The world’s largest logistics company has announced plans to cut more than half of its staff in a bid to survive the downturn in the global economy.

D2D Express has said it will cut more by half than it has in the past year.

The firm has said the move will help it to keep pace with a more competitive global environment, but has not revealed how much.

D2D said in a statement that the restructuring will “ensure a steady stream of shipments and ensure D2Ds continued growth as the company continues to move forward.”

D2Ds share price is up around 30% since the announcement.

D1D, a leading logistics company, also said on Tuesday it would cut another 5% to about 2,000 people.
